FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
2D / 3D & 4D
2D is the traditional method of scanning that you will receive at your routine NHS scans to see baby's organs and skeletal structure. 3D scanning provides you the outer view of all your baby's features. 4D is your 3D scan live in real time. If you're lucky you may see your baby yawn or suck their thumb!
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFORE MY SCAN?
We do ask that you wear a comfortable 2 piece outfit on the day of your scan to make it easier for our sonographers.
If you are coming in for an early scan or a gender scan, we do ask that you have a full bladder - we recommend at least 4 glasses of water.
We also recommend having a sugary fizzy drink around 1 hour before your scan to help get your baby moving and hopefully, get you the best results on the day!
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I HAVE AT MY SCAN?
You can bring as many guests as you wish, however, we only have 4 chairs therefore some may have to stand. Of course children are always welcome at Ooh Baby Baby, but we ask that they are supervised at all times.
WHAT IF YOU FIND AN ANOMOLY AT MY SCAN?
As we are a non diagnostic service, this is not something that we look for during our scans. However, if we happen to notice something that our sonographers are able to deal with, this in a sensitive and caring manor. They will refer you to the midwife and pregnancy assessment unit and inform you what to do next.
WHAT IF WE DON'T GET PHOTOS ON THE DAY?
At Ooh Baby Baby, we will always do our very best to make sure that we give you the best experience and images on the day - but sometimes babies can be very unpredictable! Factors such as the position of the cord, placenta and the baby can sometimes stop us from getting what you want. If this is the case, we can ask you to take a little walk on the day and come back, or come back at a later date for a re-scan free of charge. We will always make sure we do the best we can.
DO I HAVE TO BE 18 YEARS OF AGE FOR A SCAN?
Our policy at Ooh Baby Baby is that if you are under 18 years old, you must bring along your parental guardian. Please note that you will both have to sign a consent form upon arrival.
